Content Writers Needed

Copyright © 2005
By Janet Sue Terry

Recently Google and other search engines changed the way they rate web pages. Most of them look for keyword density. This means content writers have to use repetition to obtain the keyword density needed. The hiring firm will present the writer with a list of keywords and the writer will then write short keyword rich (keywords repeated 3-5 times), articles consisting of 200-400 words per article. The writer normally sells all rights to the article, and the pay averages between $5.00 - $10.00 per article. Still, the money adds up if you are a fast writer. A clever writer can change a title, a few words, sentences, and resell the article. Once the article is changed it is not the same copyrighted work. Even the keywords can be changed to save time and effort.

The market is open to all, and writers are desperately needed to fill the void. There are many places on the web where you can find these jobs. The most popular online temp services are:

" Guru - http://www.guru.com
" Elance - http://www.elance.com
" Pro Savvy - http://www.prosavvy.com

Other writing assignments are available on these web sites as well. The choices range from ghost writing to content writing and everything in between. The free access offered on the site is not as good as the subscription access. Paying members have a better selection of jobs. Be forewarned, competition is fierce.

You could write a bunch of short articles on different subjects if you want to get ahead of the crowd. You can find the most popular keywords and phrases at the following sites, or you can do a search in your favorite search engine for `popular keywords.'

Save the articles you write to a file folder on your hard drive. When you see a content writer job advertised needing the key words in an article you previously wrote, attach it to your bid as a sample. This might help you secure the job. Everyone wants the finished work right now, or as soon as possible. Therefore, it is wise to have a good selection on hand. An impulse buyer might hire you immediately to finish the job. A good percentage of these assignments will lead to regular work with the web master, since content needs to be changed regularly.

The keywords not only appear on the public page but also in the html code Meta tag section. By viewing the code you can see how the words are repeated in the title, description and keyword section of the header. The pages are excellent examples of keyword density use.
