BOOK
PUBLISHER
Just
as the term publishing can mean different kinds of publishing, a publisher
can publish different kinds of materials. These materials include
things like cdroms, music videos, motion picture videos, and the paper
variety like newspapers, magazines, and books. The publisher you work
with, will contribute to the success of your book. Most take pride
in their work. When meeting or speaking to a publisher, make sure
to tell them what you expect from your publishing venture. In addition,
make sure you are clear on what they offer. Verify that your publisher
is experienced with book publishing.
WE
ARE A BOOK PUBLISHING COMPANY
A
book publishing company is a company that publishes books. A book
publishing company would normally not publish newspapers or magazines.
That is, if they were a true book publishing company. Some firms will
publish books along with desktop items, like magazines, and newsletters.
However, these firms would not be considered a dedicated book publishing
company. If you have a manuscript that you want to publish into book
form, you should verify that the publisher you are dealing with works
for a true book publishing company that has experience in publishing
books.
INDEPENDENT
PUBLISHING COMPANY
An
independent publishing company is one that is privately owned. This
independent publishing company can offer many printing packages and
services. It is customary for the independent publishing company to
offer hard back books, and paperback books in an array of sizes and
bindings. An independent publishing company can guide writers through
the publishing process and explain the differences in print-on-demand
printing and traditional printing, along with the benefits of each.
QUOTES
BY FAMOUS WRITERS
"Write
to be understood, speak to be heard, read to grow..."
Lawrence
Clark Powell
"Write without
pay until somebody offers to pay"
Mark Twain
"You write
to communicate to the hearts and minds of others what's burning inside
you. And we edit to let the fire show through the smoke."
Arthur Polotnik
"The good
writer, the great writer, has what I have called the three S's: the
power to see, to sense, and to say. That is, he is perceptive, he
is feeling, and he has the power to express in language what he observes
and reacts to."
Lawrence Clark Powell
"If
youre going to be a writer, the first essential is just to write.
Do not wait for an idea. Start writing something and the ideas will
come. You have to turn the faucet on before the water starts to flow."
Louis
LAmour
"Successful
writers are not the ones who write the best sentences. They are the
ones who keep writing. They are the ones who discover what is most
important and strangest and most pleasurable in themselves, and keep
believing in the value of their work, despite the difficulties."

PUBLISHING
BOOKS BY SERIOUS WRITERS
Just My
Best Book Publishing Company has been in business in Ohio since
January 1, 2001. We are independent publishers who accept manuscripts
of both fiction and nonfiction via email submissions. Writers
do not need agents since JMBPUB works directly with authors,
many of which are being published for the first time. We pride
ourselves on publishing quality reading materials by serious
writers. We expect your best, and are not interested in seeing
poorly formatted manuscripts. If you want us to read your material
edit it twice and run the spelling check in your word program
before you submit it. The surest way to get a rejection slip
from any publisher is to present yourself as a lackluster, lazy
writer, who pens the story and submits it, expecting the editor
to clean it up. Our editors do not ghost write, format, or restructure
your material. In order to be a good writer you must first be
a serious editor.
PUBLISHING
PACKAGES
We offer multiple publishing packages including standard publishing,
print-on-demand publishing, and e book publishing. Our publishing
formats are hardback, paperback, casebound, and e-books. We
distribute our inventory both in the United States and foreign
countries through professional distributing companies.
PUBLISHER
ACCEPTING MANUSCRIPTS
We
are currently soliciting manuscripts with a positive, up building
message. Although the hero must have his/her share of obstacles
to overcome, he/she should do it gallantly. We are particularly
interested in non-fiction publishing this year, such as cookbook
publishing, how-to publishing, and motivational. We like to
think of ourselves as an all around publisher since we are a
cookbook publisher, a children publisher, and a publisher who
is always on the lookout for new concepts. Chances are good
that a new author can get published here.
BOOK
PUBLISHING
We
are a small publishing company who will publish 6-10 titles
in 2005. We read a lot of wonderful novels throughout the year
and would love to see them in print. But we are limited as to
the number of new authors we can support properly.
PUBLISHING
TALENTED AUTHORS
If
you want to break into print with Just My Best, Book Publishing
Company present us with a manuscript that is clean, well edited,
and formatted correctly. Two full edits must have been done
by you, the author, before you submit it. These edits must be
completed before submission.
This
book publisher has no advertising allowance, and must rely on
Authors to promote their own books. Therefore, authors should
create a marketing plan, a media package, and be prepared to
purchase an initial quantity of books for promotion purposes.

A friend once told me: "An education can't make you a writer.
You have to be born that way. " I
thought it a strange remark coming from a woman with a college
degree in journalism. However, when it comes to creative writing
her statement is true. Education fine tunes your skills, but
can't give you the imagination to make up great stories.
If you can't
spell, put paragraphs together, and don't know a comma from
a hyphen, hire a professional editor, ghostwriter, friend, or
teacher to edit your work. Have someone polish your manuscript
until it is clean, crisp, and reads easily. Make yours the best
it can be. Most
of the writers we deal with lack confidence. To those precious,
creative souls we offer a word of encouragement: "Believe
in yourself."
Famous Quotes:
"The
man who has no imagination has no wings." Muhammad Ali
"Imagination
is the outreaching of mind . . . . the bombardment of the conscious
mind with ideas, impulses, images and every sort of psychic
phenomena welling up from the preconscious. It is the capacity
to 'dream dreams and see visions . . . " .'Rollo May (1909-1994)
US psychoanalyst
"I
am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination
is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination
encircles the world." Albert Einstein
"I
don't think anybody can teach anybody anything. I think that
you learn it, but the young writer that is as I say demon-driven
and wants to learn and has got to write, he don't know why,
he will learn from almost any source that he finds. He will
learn from older people who are not writers, he will learn from
writers, but he learns it -- you can't teach it." William
Faulkner
THANK
GOD FOR DIFFERENCES

Opinions
on publishing, writing, technique, structure, etc. abounds.
Most writers believe their way is the right way. Most are wrong.
For every opinion on the subject of writing, there are many
differing views. For instance, form fiction requires writer's
guidelines from the publisher on how to write the novel. Many
people succeed at writing form fiction. They find something
that works for them and the format is copied repeatedly with
different characters, settings, and circumstances. Few find
fame while working as form-based writers.
Some authors
are strange, reclusive and independent. Editors moan when they
submit their work. Publishers hesitate to take a chance on them.
Their writing is considered too different to be acceptable.
Many of these (shunned) authors eventually become rich and famous.
Why? The public is always looking for something different. Many
new writers imitate famous authors in their literary efforts.
When a great book comes out, the public takes note, and there
are multiple copycat books not too far behind.
Examples of unique authors would be:
- Margaret
Mitchell, author of Gone With The Wind, who penned
one novel in her career. This book became an instant success.
Afterward, she did not have time to write the second book
because she was busy answering fan mail.
- Stephen
King received so many rejection slips that he hammered
a large nail on the wall and stuck rejection slips on it.
Who could argue that his writing was completely different
than anything that had come before? No doubt, at times he
felt depressed and hopeless about his future as a writer.
One editor told him that he would never succeed. The editor
was obviously a fool.
- J.R.R.
Tolkien created an entire world in Lord of the Rings.
He took a different route than other authors of his day. He
created entire civilizations, languages, and customs. When
chided by his friends and family for his complicated storyline,
he stated that he wrote his stories to please himself. He
would have been a flop at writing form fiction. Today his
family must to be happy that he did it his way.
- J.K.
Rowling, Author of the Harry Potter series seemed
to spring up over night. However, she had several novels written
by the time most of us heard of her. Readers are still buzzing
about Harry Potter and the amazing world that Rowling
created.
What did
these authors have in common? Their novels were unique. Not
copies of someone else's work. Their manuscripts did not follow
a set of writer's guidelines. These men and women had imagination,
and in my humble opinion that is the most precious gift of all.
Without it, we will never write a great novel. It would be impossible
for us to do so.
The moral
of this article is to be proud of your differences. Follow your
visions, write them down, create worlds, cultures, and let your
story flow. Do it your way. Write about the fantasies that are
playing out in your head.
What wonderful
stories are yet to be told? Hopefully you will show us.
Thank God For Differences. Amen!

QUOTES BY FAMOUS WRITERS
"If
I had to give young writers advice, I would say don't listen to
writers talking about writing or themselves."
Lillian
Hellman
"Writing
is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go."
E.
L. Doctorow
"Write
down the thoughts of the moment. Those that come unsought for
are commonly the most valuable."
Francis Bacon
"You
can point out to people how to make what they do better, but you
can't teach somebody how to be a great writer, just like you can't
teach somebody how to be a fast runner. You can work on their
technique, but either they're fast or they're not; either they
can write or they can't."
Richard Price
"Sit
down and put down everything that comes into your head and then
you're a writer. But an author is one who can judge his own stuff's
worth, without pity, and destroy most of it."
Sidonie Gabrielle
"Writing
is a solitary occupation. Family, friends, and society are the
natural enemies of the writer. He must be alone, uninterrupted,
and slightly savage if he is to sustain and complete an undertaking."
Jessamyn
West
"Close
the door. Write with no one looking over your shoulder. Don't
try to figure out what other people want to hear from you; figure
out what you have to say.
It's the one and only thing you have to offer."
Barbara
Kingsolver
"Writing
from the heart requires vision, and vision is beyond skill. Vision
writers write what they want to write. This means they write about
things that have moved them deeply. Such writing is not something
that you can learn. For vision is a gift. But if you open your
heart wide, the gift will be great."
Cyn-Young
Ahn
"There's
one thing your writing must have to be any good at all. It must
have you. Your soul, your self, your heart, your guts, your voice
-- you must be on that page. In the end, you can't make the magic
happen for your reader. You can only allow the miracle of 'being
one with' to take place. So dare to be yourself. Dare to reveal
yourself. Be honest, be open, be true...If you are, everything
else will fall into place."
